Krause releases new single with iPhone game

17 DECEMBER 2012, THE HAGUE, THE NETHERLANDS
Summary
Dutch electropop artist Krause (Susanne Clermonts) presents her new single titled ‘Something Smells Fishy’. The single has been released today together with a custom made iPhone game, developed by Dutch creative studio Zidiot. Krause is the first Dutch artist who uses a game as an alternative for a regular music video.
‘Something Smells Fishy’ is a tilt game, which means you have to move your iPhone slightly back and forth and from the left to the right to control the game. The game has been developed to be extremely addictive, so that the single will stick to your temporal lobe like velcro. A link to the single in iTunes appears after playing the game, plus the possibility to tweet your high score using the hashtag #somethingsmellsfishy. The game uses Google Analytics, which gives Krause the possibility to see where the game is being played, and how many times. This information is very useful for the release of her new album ‘Tenderfoot’, which will be in March 2013 on Amsterdam based label Basserk Records.

If you’d follow Krause on Twitter, you would know about her passion for eating herring (raw salty fish the Dutch like to eat, we can’t help ourselves). You would also know about her frantic screaming for a pony and the unconditional love for her diva cat named Jekkie. These three elements have been implemented in the iPhone game. Krause swims through the sea accompanied by her cat and has to catch as many herring as possible. The more herring she devours, the faster the speed of the game and the more deadly sea creatures she needs to dodge. The catching of a seahorse causes a few seconds of immortality, but make sure you squeeze Krause in the hole of the ambiguous looking pink reef in time!

Krause en Zidiot were so charmed by each others enthusiasm and creativity they decided to join forces to develop a new concept for the well known medium music video. The single ‘Something Smells Fishy’ has been produced by Sjam Sjamsoedin (Nobody Beats The Drum). Both single and game were produced at the same time, and therefore match seamlessly. All of the voices in the game have been recorded by Krause herself.

Krause’s next live performance will be on Thursday January 10 at the international showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag.
